Global consumer movement celebrates World Consumer Rights Day 2018

27 March 2018

135 of our members in over 90 countries came together on March 15 to mark World Consumer Rights Day 2018.

Following on from last year’s events at the G20 Consumer Summit, where Consumers International set the agenda for building a digital world consumers can trust, this year, we took the #BetterDigitalWorld campaign further in our call for fairer digital marketplaces. With nearly half the world’s population now online, e-commerce is increasingly transforming the way that consumers shop. But too often consumers lack access to digital marketplaces that are safe and fair.

Our members used World Consumer Rights Day as an opportunity to tackle a wide range of issues that consumers face while shopping online, highlighting the need for more access, action against scams and fraud and better protection online. Our call for a #BetterDigitalWorld reached up to 11.1m people on Twitter alone.
