Consumers International statement on COP21
Consumers International (CI) has released a statement calling on the world leaders meeting at the COP21 climate change talks in Paris to be ambitious and brave in seeking a binding agreement which affects real, measurable change.
The statement highlights the fact that governments, business and consumers all have a key role to play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions but this must be done in a way that continues to support consumers’ rights to a good quality of life with access to food, water, energy and medicine. Measures are also needed to support consumers who are already dealing with the impacts of global warming.
A global binding agreement will establish the framework and incentives to drive the innovation and change that is needed.
