CI Members are invited to apply for a grant to carry out consumer awareness and advocacy activities under the theme ‘safe and sustainable food for all’. Utilising local expertise and networks, CI Members promote local, practical solutions to global consumer issues.

Campaigns should highlight problems associated with irresponsible use of pesticides in farming and raise awareness and demand for food that is produced by farming methods without chemical pesticides, such as organic agriculture. For assistance in planning a project, CI Members can download CI’s Campaigning Guide and SSNC report from the bottom of this page.

Application forms can be downloaded here in: English, Spanish and French, and must be submitted to CI by 6 May 2016 (5pm GMT). Successful applicants will be notified by CI in July 2016.

The Green Action Fund is open to all Full and Affiliate CI Member organisations in developing countries (see the OECD DAC-list). Membership fees must be fully paid up to the current year (2016). Applicants should:

  • Submit project proposals which have a clear focus on both consumer rights and environmental issues, with activities taking place between 1st September and 31st October 2016;
  • The campaign should raise consumer awareness about safe and sustainable food and food produced using farming methods that exclude chemical pesticides, such as organic farming;
  • The grant must support consumer awareness action or be used to support a well defined and justified advocacy activity to complement the consumer awareness action.

Proposals will then be reviewed according to a scoring system taking into account the relevance of the project for the local area and/or the global context. Full evaluation criteria can be found on the application form.
