Organización de Consumidores y Usuarios de Chile (ODECU)

Stefan Larenas Riobó was elected to the Advisory Board of Consumers International at the Consumers International 2024 Global Congress, held between December 6 and 8 in the city of Nairobi, Kenya. Stefan is a social scientist and president of the Organization of Consumers and Users of Chile, ODECU, a consumer association with more than 25 years of practice. In his capacity as president of ODECU, Stefan has led several collective legal actions of high public connotation. In addition, he is regularly invited to express the opinion of the organization in the Chilean Congress, as well as in various instances of the Executive and Legislative Branches. Stefan is often required by the media to deliver his views on issues involving consumer rights. 

ODECU was established in 1994, with the purpose of working in the promotion and defense of consumers rights, and fighting for transparency and fairness in market relations. ODECU is a member of Consumers International, International Consumers Research and Testing (ICRT) and Consumer Organizations of Latin America and the Caribbean (OCLAC).

ODECU develops studies on products and services, provides advice on debt problems and conflicts with suppliers, represents consumer interests in dealings with authorities and business, and they have succeeded in bringing about changes in standards and business behavior.
