Consumers at UNCTAD: Our Dialogue for Action

This July we joined policy makers and global consumer experts gathering for the Eighth Session of UNCTAD’s Intergovernmental Group of Experts (IGE) on Consumer Protection Law and Policy.

As global consumer advocates, we discussed the vital role of consumer organisations in fostering fair and equitable societies, and how governments can support their growth and collaboration. We shared our dialogue for action in a discussion on how government can enhance the consumer movement. In the IGE's Agreed Conclusions member states are actively encouraged to support the movement, recognising the trusted role consumer groups play.

Consumer advocates call for ambitious global action against plastic pollution

This week we have joined global leaders in Ottawa, Canada for the fourth round of talks to secure a global deal to #BeatPlasticPollution. Together with Citizen Consumer and Civic Action Group (India) we will call for greater consumer voice in the negotiations for a lasting meaningful deal. We advocate for essential policy and market shifts to reduce plastic pollution by 80% - all while supporting consumers and businesses to overcome the challenges related to affordability and accessibility.
